Why Purchase Flood Insurance? 

A number of places are within high-risk flood prone areas in Florida.

The Federal Government has in place a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). That’s part of the reason why your Home, and Property Insurance typically does not cover flooding. The government draws a Flood Map that divides the country and this helps to determine flood zone risk areas, with this comes a Flood Insurance Rate Map and that sets the coverage, and premiums for those areas.
